Symposium on the occasion of the special exhibition "Love, Fight, Feast"
Emulating the courtly practice of uta awase, "poetry contest", eight international scholars and curators of Japanese art gather together to perform a happyō awase, a "pairing of presentations.” The in-depth discussions of key works and topics featured in the exhibition Love, Fight, Feast reveal additional stories beyond the representational paintings, prints, and craft objects. These works embody the multi-faceted allure of Japanese narrative art.
