Museum Rietberg

In the context of the exhibition «Ragamala - Pictures for all the Senses»

Dive in a confluence of the finest art of Indian miniature painting with the mesmerizing art of Indian dance. The ancient art of Ragamala which illustrates Ragas will come alive through the grace of Indian Dance. Each Ragas colors our heart with a different emotion: sometimes happy, sometimes in love, sometimes sad. Indian Dance will help the audience to feel these emotions. Follow the dancer through a dance journey in this exhibition to experience all the colors of emotions that the beautiful art of Ragamala can offer.

Annjali Shah was born in Neuchâtel. At the age of 18, she went to Ahmedabad, in Gujarat where she learned Kathak dance with Sandhya Desai. Five years later, she started to perfect her Kathak dance with Sharmila Sharma, in Paris and during workshops in Switzerland. At the age of 28, she founded her own association "Dilwale" with her husband Shashin Garach and they are spreading Indian Dance and Yoga in Switzerland.
