Emaki Studio – Time, space and the role of the viewer in narrative handscrolls

Sa, 06.11.2021, 10–11:30 Uhr
Museum Rietberg

On the occasion of the special exhibition «Love, Fight, Feast»

Emaki are handscrolls that tell stories with a combination of writing and painted scenes. Handling emaki provides a unique opportunity to reflect on the role of the viewer in elaborating a story and the particular way time and space are represented in narrative painting. Participants will have the opportunity to handle various types of facsimiles of well-known emaki themselves.
