One of the largest and most important collections of succulent plants in seven greenhouses as well as in cold frames and a rockery under the open sky: over 4400 different species from 78 plant families are cultivated here, which is between a third and half of all known succulent plants. A fascinating panoply of shapes and colors invites visitors to embark on a tour of discovery and wonder, all year round. A sense of detail and variety is heightened.
Audio stations are recalling travel experiences of scientists and collectors of succulents from former times until 20th century. Oversize books present basic information on important succulent plant groups, their regions of origin, and on selected phenomena. A guidebook to the collection is available in English.
