Enclosed in the ancient mountains of the Appenzell Alpstein lie the frozen creatures that populated Switzerland over 100 million years ago. These fossils from the Cretaceous and Eocene periods have been recovered and studied in Alpstein for more than 200 years. Marvel at selected specimens of this unique collection of fossilised animals and plants in the special exhibition "Fossils in the Alpstein" designed by the St. Gallen Nature Museum.
