In our daily lives, things break all the time. Instead of repairing them, we often buy a replacement. This results in growing mountains of garbage and an increasing scarcity of resources that have global repercussions. How well an object can be repaired is already determined in the design process. In mechanical engineering, considerations regarding maintenance and replacement parts are an integral part of the design, which is often not the case with product design and architecture. But that can change! Repairing is no longer merely a last resort but an important cultural, social, and economic practice that offers an alternative to our throwaway society. The exhibition Repair Revolution! presents the vision of a repair society and the role that design can play in getting there.
