The Helmhaus Zurich shows contemporary art with a focus on the dynamic art scene in Switzerland and especially in Zurich. Five exhibitions - solo, group, or theme-oriented presentations - are mounted every year, representing some 100 artists of all generations and covering the entire range of artistic media. Every summer artists exhibit the works they submitted in applying for grants or residencies in the City of Zurich's studios abroad. Publications accompany many of the exhibitions, providing further information and embedding the work in an international context. In addition to tours and workshops for both adults and children, unsusual concerts attract music lovers to every exhibition. Further events include discussions, conversations with artists, readings, film screenings and book launches.
