Due to the current situation and as an alternative to the limited space in the Alterthümer-Magazin, the Zurich office of preservation of historical monuments is opening the doors of the Bauteillager in Dübendorf. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the material memory of past Zurich architecture and craftsmanship. Over 15,000 objects bear witness to the rich residential and architectural culture in the canton of Zurich. Many of them waited a long time, dusty and forgotten in attics or barely escaped the hollow. Today they highlight the beginnings of building services, an unexpectedly diverse hygiene culture or unknown furniture designs by famous architects. Whether from a factory owner's villa or a worker's house: all objects have a story to tell that allows a glimpse behind our modern living standards.
